Intangible Signs of Progress

Hey there, Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)-

Think about that project you've been putting off every time you've thought of it... for years.

I'm talkin':

  • Organizing your Google Drive

  • Picking your encore career

  • Clearing out that storage locker

  • Building new, adult friendships

  • Putting that furniture together

  • Having a reset convo with your partner

  • Creating the workshop you've been dying to share

Yeah, I see you.

I bet you've tried to (and possibly succeeded at) starting that project half a dozen times.

Your schedule clears up.

You have a sudden influx of inspiration and energy.

You're avoiding something else that seems harder (just being real here).

Your loved ones stage an intervention - or show up with pizza and supplies in a loving attempt to get you to just do the thing.

Somewhere along the lines, you stopped working on your project.

You quit.

Then, you likely beat yourself up about it (for at least a little while for good measure).

I know this, because otherwise, you wouldn't have thought of it when I asked you to think of a years-long, unfinished project.

At some point, you threw in the towel because you didn't see any progress happening, and it became an impossible task in your mind.

No matter how much you worked on it, it never felt like the goal was in sight.

I get it, we've all been there, my friend.

But what if it was working?

What if you were making progress, you just couldn't see it?

What if there were a hundred different signs along the way that you were getting there, but you didn't know how to see them, so you just... stopped?

I've noticed with all of my clients lately that there are TONS of small, intangible, subjective signs of progress that (when you see them) motivate you enough to keep going until you cross the finish line.

I help clients see each of these subtle cues and nuances every single session until they learn how to see the signs for themselves.

In this week's episode of Highly Sensitive Club, I'm sharing samples of the signs I look for to reflect back the very real progress my clients don't see for themselves at first - the kind of stuff that keeps them going when they would normally quit on themselves.

Listen on your favorite podcast app and / or watch on YouTube.

In the episode, you'll learn the:

  • Cost of all / nothing thinking that keeps you stuck in the quitting & starting over cycle - again and again and again

  • Evidence of growth over time (as seen through the lenses of self-trust, focus, time, and productivity)

  • Three areas that prove your progressing - even before the results have arrived

You don't have to have "passed" the test or "completed" the project to get so many benefits from this concept.

Side effects of intangible signs of progress include:

  1. A general sense of calm and wellbeing

  2. People spontaneously offering to help you

  3. More time, money, and energy

  4. Clear ideas of what you want and how to get there

  5. Belief in yourself and your gifts (including High Sensitivity)

  6. Less stress

  7. Better sleep

  8. Getting more done

  9. Feeling more alive

Here are some more concrete examples if you didn't love my tongue-in-cheek prescription drug spoof:

  1.  Knowing where to find your files, even if they're not in the perfect folder system yet

  2. Having appointments lined up to discuss or try out different career paths

  3. Clear floors (even if the shelves are packed... it's amazing what getting things off the floor does to your psyche)

  4. Coffee chats lined up and a casual, networking event on your calendar

  5. One piece of furniture put together, even if three more are waiting to be assembled

  6. A good response from your partner when you bring up wanting to improve things in your relationship

  7. An email confirmation in your inbox of your workshop date

We really discount how much better our lives could be if we were even 10% more satisfied, happy, content, and calm.

You can't complete something without progress along the way.

We simply can't flip a switch and go from not having our goal or dream to suddenly having it with zero effort, work, or growth.

When you see aaaaall these intangible signs of progress, you actually get where you want to go, and you stop quitting on yourself.

Listen to / watch episode 82. Intangible Signs of Progress to find out all the proof along the way you've been missing.

When you see it, a whole world of possibilities open up for you.

To all your signs of progress and success,

Steph
