Moving through Emotional and Mental Resistance

Hi there, Highly Sensitive Person -
You know when you really want to take a hard or uncomfortable action, you know it's going to help you in the long-run, and then your brain is offering up all the "Ugh! I don't want to..!" in the moment?
With your super-charged, Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) mind behind this thought, it feels pretty freaking compelling, no?
Then you start thinking, "I'll start fresh tomorrow" or "I just need to gather a little more information before I dive in."
You feel discouraged, confused, stressed.
Because of these feels, you procrastinate, avoid, or distract yourself away from the action.
And you end up stuck at square one.
Maybe you even feel like you're going backwards because the more you delay, the bigger the task seems and the more behind you feel.
Our brains often offer us up resistance when it would make the most impact for us to move forward.
You could finally:
get your sleep on track
meditate or journal regularly
complete those projects that have been on your list forever
send the text or email
make the phone call
have the uncomfortable (but important) conversation
go to the event with people you don't know (yet)
Just as you're about to take the leap, your brain offers up so many easier, familiar tasks instead - scrolling on your phone, getting up and checking the fridge, reordering your to-do list again.
Knowing where your resistance is coming from, and what's motivating it, will help you...
get to the real problem
make a thoughtful choice
get unstuck
There are two main reasons we resist doing something we know is important, and I discuss both in this week's episode of the Highly Sensitive Club.

In the episode, you'll learn the:
two main reasons we resist doing important things that feel hard, uncomfortable, and unfamiliar
how to get curious and find out what's really going on beneath the surface
a simple flow-chart of questions to help you figure out the cause and take purposeful action
I had resistance to writing this very post!
I know my timing is a little off, but I also know I want to be consistent in your inbox, sharing things I think can be valuable and helpful to your everyday life, HSP.
Using my own questions (because I wouldn't recommend them otherwise), I discovered that my resistance had to do with timing.
Now that I know what the cause is, I decided to go ahead with my action anyway, and I made a plan to correct this issue for next week.
My resistance faded enough for me to take the action, and that's the simple way for you to do it too.
"How to Move through Emotional and Mental Resistance" is a must-have if you're struggling to do a task that you know would make you feel so satisfied to have complete and you're ready to get unstuck.
Curiosity, awareness, and choice, HSP. That's the key!
You can make progress anytime you choose -
Steph
