Stop Discounting Your Progress

Hi there, Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) -
The hardest part of habit change is being in the uncomfortable part in the middle.
You know the one, where the newness has faded and your result is still far away and you're caught in the "messy middle."
You have to put a lot of effort into building the new habit because it's neither your old, unhelpful habit that felt easy and familiar, and it's also not on autopilot yet as a new habit.
Many people give up during the messy middle, which is why they end up quitting and starting over... and over and over...
Here's the trap that I see a lot of Highly Sensitive People (HSP) in particular falling into in that messy middle part:
You discount the progress you have made and tell yourself you're failing until you reach the result you want.
Therefore, every time you show up to do the thing, you're "failing" because you haven't reached the goal.
Hello, Perfectionism and Overthinking.
This is when you're using your high sensitivity against yourself and getting caught in the black-or-white thinking of passing or failing your goals.
If you can keep going, you're fighting yourself each step of the way.
If you give up, you're relieved for a moment... until the inner critic kicks up again, hoping to motivate you back towards your goal.
You're creating a no-win situation.
There's something that goes along with the messy middle, my friend, to truly see success, and it's letting your progress count as you go.
In this week's episode of the Highly Sensitive Club, I'm sharing the common beliefs that HSPs get stuck in that keep you spinning your wheels and never getting out of the messy middle - so that you can actually build momentum and reach your dreams.

In the episode, you'll learn the:
three perspectives that keep HSPs stuck, maintaining, or actually moving forward
one little word that helps your goal stay in your view
reframe that will help shift your energy so you can make it through that uncomfortable part to the results you crave
Here's what I know, based on all the conversations I've been having lately with clients, mentees, and friends.
You are so much further along than you're giving yourself credit for.
Your brain may be telling you that you're always starting from scratch, but I bet you have evidence, right now, that you've already done something similar to what you're working on right now.
I bet you've already done courses, listened to podcasts, watched a ton of YouTube videos, tried exercises, taken steps, and a ton of other things that have each moved you a little closer to your destination.
One of my favorite mantras is: Nothing ever goes to waste.
You just might not yet know how it applies.
When you acknowledge the progress you have made and the steps you've already taken, THAT'S what actually builds momentum and keeps you moving forward.
Much like those small dreams I talked about last week, seeing your progress along the way (and not discounting it until you've "achieved") is the magic, counterintuitive ingredient.
Once you reframe your progress, you'll be surprised how easily you get in flow and accelerate towards your dreams.
And if you're so ready for that and haven't been able to get there on your own, book a free consultation call with me. I can help you.
To recognizing your progress,
Steph
P.S. If you're sick of trying to figure this all out on your own, I would love to help you. Book a consultation call. It's free, and you'll leave the conversation knowing what you want, what's keeping you stuck, and how to move forward. Plus, I've got enough belief and energy to spare, I'll believe in you enough for you to believe in yourself. I've got you.
